About Us
Located in the heart of Upper Montclair and worshiping in the Episcopal tradition, St. James is an inclusive community focused on faith, family and social outreach.  
We seek to:
  • Nurture spirituality through community and Christian education
  • Grow and support our diverse membership through fellowship and outreach
  • Serve the needs of Montclair and beyond through God’s love and social action.  
​Collect for the Community
Gracious God, strengthen in us two values that we hold central as a Christian Community.  These values are inspired by Jesus' two great commandments.  First, we love God or something greater than ourselves with all our hearts and mind, and second we commit to loving our neighbor as we love ourselves.  There is no boundary or condition to our love and commitment to God or to our neighbor, no matter who they may be.  All are welcome in this place.  Amen.

Worship Schedule & Formation Opportunities

  • Service of Holy Eucharist: Sundays at 8:15am and 10:15am (the 10:15am service is also available on Zoom)
  • Sunday School & Nursery Care - Nursery care (children 3 1/2 and younger) can go directly to the nursery. Older children meet in the church to go to class as a group after their blessing. Nursery and Christian Education classes are concurrent with the 10:15 a.m. service.
  • ​Women's Bible Study  - Wednesdays, Sept through May (on Zoom) at 10:00am. ​
  • Men's Bible Study - Saturdays in the Guild Room at 9:00am (contact Robert Brown for more information)​​

  • St. James School is a non-sectarian program that has been serving Upper Montclair and its surrounding communities for nearly 40 years. We are dedicated to developing the emotional, intellectual, social and physical growth of our students. We believe that education is a cooperative effort among students, parents and staff, designed to stimulate the creativity and achievements of each child. Our teachers place emphasis on the process and the joy of learning and creating, rather than on the finished product.
