The St. James’ community seeks to “Serve the needs of Montclair and beyond through God’s love.” We are a community that holds service – to ourselves and others – at the center of all that we do. We see service as a mutually-beneficial relationship that brings everyone involved closer to God. To be a missional people, we believe that our community members must reach out to others, and we accomplish our outreach through local service opportunities, mission trips, and global partnerships.
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me… Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:35-40)
